Who I am

SRW Publisher is made and sold by Stephen Wheeler, a sole trader, at K7, Wheelhome, Frieze Hall Farm, Coxtie Green Road, South Weald, Brentwood, Essex, CM14 5RE, United Kingdom. For anything to do with privacy, email stephen@srwpublisher.co.uk. I'm the data controller for the small amount of personal information described below, and I'm registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (registration number ZC265394).

The SRW Publisher program

• It works offline and makes no internet connections of its own. Your documents, photos and files stay on your computer.
• It has no account or sign-in, no adverts, and no usage tracking.
• It doesn't send your documents, or any information about you or how you use it, to me or to anyone else.

Spelling is checked on your own computer, using English (UK and US) dictionaries built into the program. Nothing is downloaded, and the words you type are never sent anywhere.

SRW Publisher is bought, installed and updated through the Microsoft Store. Microsoft handles your purchase and payment under its own privacy statement. The program asks Windows for its Microsoft Store licence, as any Store app does; any contact with Microsoft for that is made by Windows, not by SRW Publisher, and tells me nothing about you. If you click a web link in a document, or the Buy button, it opens in your own web browser or the Microsoft Store app. I receive sales totals and general statistics from Microsoft, not your name, email address or payment details.

This website

This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics, advertising or tracking code. It is hosted by a web hosting company, which, like any web host, processes your IP address and basic technical details for a short time in order to deliver the pages and protect the site against attacks.

The video on the main page is played from this website itself, not from YouTube, so watching it here involves no one else. If you click the “Watch on YouTube” link, you leave this website for YouTube, which is run by Google under its own privacy policy.

If you email me

If you email me with a question, a problem or a suggestion, I receive your email address and whatever you choose to tell me. I use it only to reply and to deal with what you've raised. I don't add you to a mailing list, and I don't sell or pass your details to anyone for marketing. I keep emails only for as long as I need them to deal with your enquiry and for my business records.

If you send me a file

If a file doesn't open properly, you can choose to send it to me, by email or through a private Dropbox upload link that I send you. Please bear in mind that your file may contain personal information, such as names and addresses.

• I use the file only to find and fix the problem in SRW Publisher.
• To investigate, I may use software tools, including an AI assistant, to analyse the file.
• I don't publish it, and I don't pass it to anyone for any other purpose.
• I delete it once the problem has been dealt with.

Services I use

To run the website, receive email and files, and fix problems, I use a company that hosts the website and forwards email, my email provider, Dropbox (for file uploads) and an AI service that helps me investigate files that won’t open. Some of these companies are based outside the UK, mainly in the United States, so information may be processed there under their own safeguards.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask me what information I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. Email stephen@srwpublisher.co.uk and I'll deal with it promptly. If you're unhappy with how I've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

If this policy changes, I'll update this page and the date at the top.
